The Prototypes Put Heavy Electro Spin On Newest Album Single, “Paradise”

the prototypes the prototypes

The Prototypes’ upcoming album, Ten Thousand Feet & Rising, is set for release on October 23. Today, they just released the fourth single from the album, “Paradise” featuring Elle Exxe, easily one of the most powerful singles on the entire record.

Like Delta Heavy and Metrik, The Prototypes are branching out from pure drum & bass and with “Paradise” have put a massive electro spin on the single that is powerful and absolutely addictive. Orchestral chords and melodic synths pair well with Elle Exxe’s vocals before it descends dangerously into the waters of pure electro, tear-out bliss.

“‘Paradise’ started life in a hotel room in Finland after playing a night there called ‘TheCircuit’ in Helsinki,” recalls the duo, “the Intro, main riff, build up and drop all came within about an hour, it all felt pretty right very quickly but once home it sat on the hard drive for a while unfinished. When we were discussing the album tracklist we decided to add vocals, Elle Exxe was our first choice, she just done the track with Oliverse ‘Unspoken’ which was sick and inspired us to hit her up.”

“The original bassline was different to the one on the final version. The thing we like most about this tune is the contrast between the electronic nicer intro to the loose rawer drop, we love that switch up; it’s also one of the two only slower tempo tracks on the album,” explains the band.

Small little details like the continually rising synth (3:12) in the second drop give you a terrifying sense of suspense and weight of the song. The rhythm is seductive and, like a powerful storm, just pulls you along for the ride.
