Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano are back with an infectious and empowering new single “Life After You.” Teaming up with singer RANI, SJRM stray from their signature tribal house sound for a much brighter and more radio-friendly tune. The Surinamese-Dutch duo show off their production chops fusing elements of piano house, pop, and deep house.
EDM fans will recognize RANI from Sam Feldt’s hit “Post Malone.” You can feel the emotion in her voice as she belts out during the buildup “Cause there’s life after you, I’mma find someone new!” Combine her incredible vocals with SJRM’s lush production and it makes for one of those perfect summer jams that (would’ve) works just as well coming out through club speakers as it does on your home bluetooth.
This is only SJRM’s second release of 2020, but they’ve been regulars on virtual live streams throughout quarantine. This weekend they teamed up with Sensation Festival to play a special “Monument of Light” set at the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam. Instead of actual fans, SJRM played a set to white mannequins (similar to ZHU’s Blacklizt set) along with a very special light show that turned the arena into a massive club.
