R3HAB has come a long ways since first breaking into the dance scene with early EDM hits like “Revolution” and “Samurai.” Over the past couple of years the Moroccan-Dutch producer/DJ has settled into a nice sweet spot producing more radio and club-friendly fare teaming up with a bevy of female vocalists. R3HAB continues to show off his production prowess with his latest release, “Thinking About You” with Swedish singer-songwriter Winona Oak. She’s previously collaborated with the Chainsmokers and What So Not, so her dance music bona fides are solid.
“Thinking About You” sees R3HAB explore more deep territory. The bassline and pads are super sultry and low-end. Winona Oak’s vocals are bright, but somehow, still forlorn at the same time. As she sings “Thinking about you, don’t wanna let you go, never wanna let you go,” we’re taken into the drop that features some deep tech-y synths to go along with some light hi-hats and pads that give the track a nice after-hours feel. Here’s what R3HAB and Winona Oak had to say about teaming up on the track.
“Every now and then, you know it. And when I was working on this track, I knew it too. Only one voice could complete the song, and it was Winona Oak’s. She has the voice you recognize immediately. I love the result we achieved with ‘Thinking About You,’ and I hope you do too.” – R3HAB
“‘Thinking About You’ is all about feeling yourself and the sparkling chemistry between two people. I had a lot of fun making this one together with R3HAB and love how it makes you wanna dance, but still has that melancholic vibe to it.” – Winona Oak
