Felix Jaehn has been stretching his versatility when it comes to his latest releases. From his remix of “Auslander” from German rock group Rammstein last year to his recent collaborations with VIZE, Jaehn continues to explore different dance music styles. The sugar-sweet melodies and evolving production value are all present on his latest song “SICKO” featuring GASHI and FAANGS.
In this new collaboration, Felix Jaehn moves away from the house music formula and engineers a dance-pop track that perfectly utilizes both features. Canadian vocalist and songwriter FAANGS makes a massive impression with her hypnotic vocals that capture this 2 a.m. nightclub vibe. Promptly, GASHI chimes in with echoed-vocals that pair with the thumping beat providing a melodic chorus. The lyrical content from both paint a picture loneliness and melancholy experienced from constant hustle.
What Felix Jaehn does to make this track pop is multilayered. The song has a minimalist style and highlights FAANGS wailing before she starts singing. The piano chords from the start transform into synths as GASHI’s vocals appear for the chorus. But when GASHI’s first verse comes up, the thumping beat is replaced with finger snaps and the once distant chorus morphs into an intimate voice. Felix Jaehn creates what is sure to be a club favorite in the near future.
