Radius Chicago, A New Venue Opens in the Windy City

It has been over five years since the Chicago music scene saw an opening of a large scale venue and it was about time that something breathed new life into what was starting to feel like a stagnant rotation. Come 2020 we are finally going to feel that breath.

Radius Chicago is a brand-new independently owned and operated music venue that is coming to the Pilsen neighborhood at the end of next February. The space sits at a monstrous 55,000 square feet and has a capacity of 2,500 – 3,800 people. The venue primary focus will be on music and it is equipped with a state of the art D&B KSL sound system, a mezzanine level to host VIP guests/packages, a spacious outdoor smoking section, and nine full service bars.

The first set of shows at Radius include electronic music producer Dillon Francis, international house and techno legend Carl Cox, future house producer Tchami, American hip-hop artist Lil Wayne, metalcore band Killswitch Engage with August Burns Red and Light The Torch, punk rock bands Alkaline Trio and Bad Religion, and Austrailan psych-rock band King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

Radius owner and operator Nick Karounos has been involved in live music events and nightlife in Chicago for the past 20 years. Karounos has played a major part in the Chicago music scene as an owner and operator of Concord Music Hall, the MID, and PRYSM Nightclub. Karounos saw the need for a large space that was built specifically for live events and close to the downtown area:

“We were looking for a scalable, multi-purpose venue space to house a state of the art concert facility with modern art and design elements at the forefront, and we’ve created it with Radius. This project has been 4 years in the making and we are beyond excited to show Chicago and the rest of the world what we have built for music lovers of all genres.”
