Subsonic Music Festival in New South Wales, Australia will not go on as planned this weekend.
Fires have been raging through the rural area over the past few weeks, leaving the festival at high risk. The event will be pushed back to early next year due to the fires, plus the “alarmingly low” water levels of the Karuah river.
Festival director Scott Commens said: “Despite our best efforts to work through the concerns of the event stakeholders, unfortunately we have been given no other option but to temporarily postpone the festival.”
“We would like to offer our sincere apologies to all our patrons, artists, stallholders, staff and volunteers that are affected by the postponement. We were only advised of the unavailability of Riverwood Downs at very late notice and were unable to safely change the venue for next weekend.”
Tickets will be valid for a “swathe” of club shows taking place in Sydney from December 6th – 8th, as well as the rescheduled music festival.
