There are certain songs that when you hear them the first time, they just affect you. You know you listened to something special and you say to yourself, I’m definitely going to hear that song a lot. I feel like that’s the case for R3hab’s latest single “Flames” where he teams up with ZAYN (yep, that’s Zayn Malik from One Direction) and UK-based producer Jungleboi, to deliver a tour de force of a song that’s both powerful and emotional.
“Flames” sees R3hab venture even further into mainstream territory, but this isn’t a pop song, it’s sort of a blues-y song with some electronic elements, notably the incredible piano work by R3hab on this track. There’s not a drop or riff that carries the song, instead, what really stands out is ZAYN’s amazing vocal work. ZAYN shows off incredible power and range in his voice affecting a wide range of emotions. The song is a warning to a prospective love interest that it’s best she move on, because he’ll only bring her down. However, he feels trapped, telling her it’s best to just let it go.
Here’s what R3hab had to say about how “Flames” came together.
“I was working on the ‘Flames’ song for quite some time together with Jungleboi when we got the call from ZAYN. The result is absolutely epic. I couldn’t be more proud of the result and look forward to sharing this amazing tune with the world.”

[Lyrics]
You better run from me
You better hit the road
You better up and leave
Don’t get too close
Cause I’m a Rolling Stone
And I keep rolling on
You better run from me
Before I take your soul
If I know, let me go
Don’t you follow me, let me go
I will let you down, let me go
Even if your heart can’t take it, light me up in flames
Light me up
Light me up
Light me up
Light me up
Light me up in flames
You better run from me
You better say goodbye
And even if I’ll bleed
Don’t waste your time
Cause I’m a broken home
You’re better off alone
You better run from me
Before I take your soul
If I know, let me go
Don’t you follow me, let me go
I will let you down, let me go
Even if your heart can’t take it, light me up in flames
Light me up
Light me up
Light me up
Light me up
Light me up in flames
