Just a little over a week since Blanke dropped his own remix of the League Of Legends Worlds 2019 theme “Phoenix,” 1788-L is here with his own, noticeably heavier take. Whereas Blanke went with a more melodic approach, 1788-L used his characteristic dark and mechanical sonic motifs to transform this anthem into a real banger.
The vocals are still as emotive as ever, building up a false sense of security ahead of the minimal, mechanical drop. There’s so much empty space between the synths, entirely filled with bass, that it’s quite astonishing. Many artists opt to fill it in with mids or fills, but 1788-L revels in the void.
