It’s been a little over a year now since rising Vegas-based producer and DJ Shöckface released his first solo record ‘Extract’ on Jayceeoh‘s imprint record label Super 7 Records. The experimental-whizkid is now back with fellow contemporary Canadian producer So Sus for the alien-tinged ‘Tribe,’ which was released this Halloween.
‘Tribe’ takes listeners into the depths of Shöckface’s dark evocative signature sound which is only enhanced by So Sus’s fierce percussion and synth work. Shöckface creates a haunting yet luring soundscape in the break only to be built up and turned into an alien invasion theme song. The record is undoubtedly unique and different as it puts itself in a different space than traditionally structured trap records. It’s always fun to see when two experimental maestros go at it together and deliver us a work of art that pushes the envelope in the bass music scene.
