Jaenga isn’t a new artist by any means, having released with Zeds Dead and toured on Deadbeats dates over the past year, but he is pretty new to me. And what a brilliant introduction to his sound than “Shivers” with FJØRA.
My first impression of the song was how closely it resembled classic Zeds Dead productions, with the style of bass and short, punctuated strings coupled with ethereal female vocals. This is hardly a negative, though, since that style is timeless. However, halfway in, Jaenga distinguishes himself from the pack with a wild halftime cut, as if he’s remixing his own track.
