Two months ago, Conrank dropped one of my favorite albums of the year, What’s a FKNG Conrank. Now, one of my all-time favorite drum & bass producers, TC, is here to remix one of my favorite tracks on the album, “Drum in Time.” To say that I’m chuffed would be an understatement.
In its original element, “Drum in Time” is a powerful dubstep tune with a thoroughly heavy bassline and some really creative arrangement. TC keeps a lot of the original melodic elements intact while just doing what he does best — pumping up the tempo. The result is a powerfully fast and destructive tune with a hypnotic structure and rhythm that urges you to two step, headbang, and flail about in the best ways.
Whereas Conrank’s whole vibe called back to the classic days of wub, TC presents a jump up tune that pays tribute to the classics and brings it to the future, presenting a culmination of the history of both genres in one tight package. Honestly, it’s a fucking master tune.
