After 15 years working in music, Nicki Minaj has announced her retirement to focus on her family.
Minaj tweeted this afternoon, “I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE.”
This announcement follows another announcement last month of her intention to marry boyfriend Kenneth Petty. At the time, she made no mention of retirement and in fact mentioned working on a new album.
Petty is a registered sex offender, convicted of first-degree attempted rape in 1995 for which he served almost 4 years in prison. He served another 7 years in prison in the 2000s when he was convicted of first-degree manslaughter.
Nicki Minaj has previously worked with the likes of David Guetta, Major Lazer, and more
