Zeal Blends Pop, Hip-Hop, and Bass on “Tomorrow” [New Single]

Australia is a breeding ground of talented and inspired musicians across multiple genres. With EDM, for example, Australian artists are responsible for paving some of electronic music’s wildest directions and detours. This includes contributions from artists such as Flume, Alison Wonderland, Pendulum, Anna Lunoe, Flight Facilities, What So Not, Knife Party, Rufus Du Sol, Dirty South, Tommy Trash, Kylie Minogue, and many more. Upholding the trend of Australia’s trend-setting peers, Zeal pushes genre boundaries on his latest single “Tomorrow.”

Zeal, who is a native of Melbourne, has a few releases under his name. However, his originals like “Reminiscent” or his remix of the Daft Punk slow-jam “Something About Us” showcase a drive to innovate while maintaining a deep understanding of the styles he works with. With “Tomorrow”, these attributes shine at their brightest.

“Tomorrow” sees Zeal recruiting hip-hop artist Paintriip and pop singer/songwriter Yohanna and placing them in a dream-trap instrumental. Influences from “Shelter”-era Porter Robinson and Madeon are evident as this song incorporates gentle synth chords and distant drums. There is also an uplifting message from both Paintriip’s and Yohanna’s lyrics despite their differing approaches on the track and the dazed atmosphere presented with Zeal’s instrumental. What makes this song fascinating is that Zeal packs different elements together and they end up blending almost seamlessly.

In short, “Tomorrow” is a combination of future bass, pop, and hip-hop crafted by a promising young artist. It’s an excellent song to listen to during profound nostalgia trips in the car or when you need to hear a voice saying “it will be ok.”

Make sure to check out “Tomorrow” by Zeal and featuring Paintriip and Yohanna.
