I got “Life Long After Death” from QUIX, Adventure Club and badXchannels in my inbox a little over a week ago. When I first listened to it, it was really good, I liked it a lot. But somehow, in the five or so days it’s been since I last heard to now writing this review, it’s gotten better… I can’t quite explain it, but it has.
“LLAD” benefits to an incredible degree from the vocals of badXchannels, aka Craig Owens, aka the lead singer of Chiodos. His powerful voice lends itself perfectly to both the harder, dubstep first drop as well as the emotive, stadium-sized second drop. In all senses of the word, this is definitely a song, not just a track, a distinction that isn’t often examined in EDM.
Both QUIX and Adventure Club have already been having a stellar 2019; no doubt the same can be said for badXchannels. A collaboration between the four of them is something that wouldn’t seem appropriate on paper, but comes across as one of my favorite releases of the year so far in reality.
