Ben Pearce had a relative hit on his hands when he put out “Fireproof” featuring Tayla earlier this year. With a unique take on melodic house, Pearce hit a niche that still hasn’t been appropriately explored. Now, Ten Ven puts his own unique spin on the track with a more pure house-leaning cut.
You can hear the influence from the first drum loop in the introduction, slowly leading to more intricately woven elements: a hi hat here, a backing synth there, a subtle clap behind the snare, etc. By the time Tayla’s vocals finally come in, “Fireproof” has been transformed into a late-night, groovy dancefloor weapon.
“I’ve been a long-time fan of Ben’s work. He has been consistently putting out great records for a while now. I jumped at the chance to remix his new single. I loved the original and was able to put my own twist on the vocal as well as adding a heads-down dub for good measure.” – Ten Ven
