Glastonbury Festival experienced a death of a G4S security team member over the weekend, which has been confirmed by the Avon and Somerset police.

The individual found dead at his festival campsite, inside his tent, was described as a “man in his 60s,” but his identity remains unknown. No cause of death has been revealed, nor the circumstances.

A spokesperson for the G4S security team revealed: “At 5:00 pm on Sunday 30 June, one of our employees was found dead in his tent at Glastonbury Festival, where he had been working as a security officer. The next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with his loved ones at this difficult time.”

Another official statement said: “Officers attended and are satisfied the man’s death is not suspicious. The coroner has been informed.”

The security guard was said to have been working night shifts over the weekend. However, he had reportedly not worked in the 24 hours leading up to his death.

Overall, police and crime reports at Glastonbury were significantly down this year. There were 96 reported crimes, down 42 percent from 2017. There were 13 drug offenses, down 64 percent from 2017.
