We’re still singing along to the sounds of ‘Gin’ by singer and songwriter LissA – and one play will quickly show you why. The pop starlet released this track a little while back and we’re sure she has more goodies on the horizon. Check out our exclusive interview below.
Hey LissA, thank you for speaking to us! Where in the world are you based right now?
I just finished my masters degree and moved to Berlin for a couple of months to do music, however I am actually based in Bonn, which is close to Cologne.
If you had to describe your musical style for someone who hadn’t heard your music before, how would you sum it up?
I think it’s always hard to put a label on music, but if you want me to I think I’d go with indie pop 😉
What do you love most about being an artist?
The best thing about being an artist for me is definitely the fact that I am able to express everything that’s on my mind and get feedback by people who feel the same way. If people tell me that my music helps them or makes them happy, it’s an amazing feeling and I’m honoured to call this my job.
Where did it start for you? Do you remember what first got you into wanting to create music?
I always made music for myself, however I was never planing on creating music on a professional level. I was really lucky that people found interest in my music and I got to be a full time artist.
Who or what are you currently really into, music-wise?
I actually listen to a lot of hip hop, which you probably can’t tell by the kind of music that I do. However I’m really into Loyle Carner, 21 Savage and as always my never ending love Mac Miller 😉
We love how catchy ‘Gin’ is and we also love gin… is it your drink of choice?
Thank you so much! I like gin a lot and I think I have about 20 different types of gin in my apartment. When it comes to booze I’d definitely go with gin, but nothing beats a cold beer on a hot summer day.
Did you have fun making the track?
I really enjoyed writing the song, because I tried to make a song that makes people happy and create happy vibes. I think that worked out pretty well and I am very glad about that.
What plans do you have for the summer?
I will do a bunch of sessions with great artists all over the world and also work on my live set with my band. I can’t wait to finally start touring!
Could you share a random fact about yourself with us?
Random fact: I am sitting in a little coffee shop in Mallorca as I am writing this. I came here for a little vacation and to see the WTA Tournament, since I am a big tennis fan. I just saw Rafa Nadal practicing and I am super happy about this 🙂
