Next up and sounding unbelievable on Absent Mind is ‘Cages,’ a brand new single from the singer/songwriter Eckoes. She shot to recognition after ‘Without Prejudice’ was made the coveted ‘Best Of The Week’ track by Apple and looks set for big things.
With ‘Cages’ she has crafted something entirely immersive. Lose yourself in its deep folds of electronica, whilst Eckoes’ vocals drift with expressive fluidity over the top and instantly create goosebumps. Talking the track through, the artist says:
“It’s an easy trap. You follow the breadcrumbs your parents/society/ the magazines put out for you because you get a little round of applause each time. Until you look up one day and you’re so far from where you yourself wanted to go. Standing there trapped, screaming in a glass cage of your own making, going through the very shiny motions because you should be happy, right? Right?”
