Google Brings Back The Headphone Jack for Its Affordable New Pixel 3a Phones

Last year, Google launched the Pixel 3 as its flagship phone. Like the Pixel 2, it was still missing the headphone jack but had great hardware and software powered by Google. This year, Google is updating its flagship with the Pixel 3A and 3A XL — and best of all, it starts at just $399. Oh, and the headphone jack is back.

You’re pretty much never going to get a deal like this on another comparable Android phone, with a similar camera and hardware. Even the XL starts at just $479. However, for these lower prices, there are some concessions to be made.

The phones don’t have chips as strong as the $750+ phones you could get. As such, some things like opening apps will be slower. There also isn’t a separate image processing chip, so saving pictures takes a second or two longer, but it doesn’t affect the quality of the images taken. Other things like overall build strength and screen take a slight dip, as well, as you’d expect.

All in all, despite the small difference in performance, it’s an incredible budget cell phone. Watch the review from The Verge below.
