Marshmello’s concert within Fortnite will probably be looked back on as a watershed moment in the marketing world for music. Following the event, Marshmello experienced a massive increase in engagement, views, and plays across social media and streaming platforms, proving that a dedicated fanbase is a very powerful tool.
Now, the next musical group to try and capitalize on the power of Fortnite is Weezer.
The alt-rock band now has its own island within Creation mode in the game, and it’s not just for show. Players who visit the island will be able to hear Weezer’s upcoming self-titled album, known as The Black Album, before it’s available to the public.

The new Weezer album drops tomorrow, March 1. It’s unclear if Weezer World will exist beyond the album’s release. What is clear, however, is that this definitely isn’t the last time we’ll see musicians trying to get in on Fortnite’s massive userbase.
