Ultra Music Festival is undergoing a lot of changes for 2019 and beyond…
An unexpected relocation from the mainland’s Bayfront Park to Virginia Key seems to be going swimmingly. Now, the City of Miami’s extensive plans to revamp the historic Miami Marine Stadium on-site have been revealed.
The hefty project is expected to take two years and cost $45 million, as the city seeks to completely renovate the outdated landmark. All-new concrete structure and seating, as well as brand new concession areas are part of the redesign, with a fresh, modern look in mind.
Not only will the new-and-improved Miami Marine Stadium be ideal for events such as Ultra Music Festival, the city hopes the venue can be an escape for its citizens. The goal is to keep the venue open regularly, so the community can relax or be entertained on Virginia Key on the daily.
If all goes to plan, the venue will undergo extensive construction over the next couple of years and reopen in 2022. Perhaps by that time Ultra will have a brand new live stage, surrounded by water — if the festival chooses to stay put in Virginia Key.
