I love listening to music that makes my bones feel as if they’re receiving a sonic massage. At the same time, it’s nice to just sit down with a soft, melodic tune that has some powerful lyrics. The latter is true of Rival’s new song “Lately” featuring Conor Byrne.
“Lately” is out today along with a lyric video so you can follow along. The tone set by the setting, in a dark, empty room, combined with the minimal and melancholy production, is definitely intentional. And it shows. Within two or three listens, I’m already singing along and empathizing with the lyrics.
