Spotify Vows To Terminate or Suspend Accounts That Use Ad Blockers

Anyone who has an ad blocker knows the beauty of having one. But for those trying to cheat the system, Spotify is cracking down on users with such software.

Per the platform’s newly instated Terms of Service policy, Spotify has the power to suspend or even terminate accounts that partake in “circumventing or blocking advertisements in the Spotify Service, or creating or distributing tools designed to block advertisements in the Spotify Service.” Any account with suspicious or abnormal activity on this front will be red flagged.

Furthermore, a spokesperson says Spotify has “multiple detection measures in place monitoring consumption on the service to detect, investigate and deal with [artificial manipulation of streaming activity].”

The new Terms of Service go into effect on March 1. So, anyone that regularly listens to music via Spotify may want to rethink the use of an ad blocker. It sounds like the platform will be seriously cracking down starting next month.
