Every music publication and platform has a year-end list or more filled with the best songs, artists, and albums of 2018. For many, Drake comes out on top — but for Deezer, J Balvin is the most streamed artist worldwide this year.
The artist has generated a steady wave of reggaeton and Latin trap music, including his number one hit with collaborators Cardi B and Bad Bunny, “I Like It.” Prior to that, it was his scorching hit “Mi Gente” that launched him to superstardom.
“The goal is to be able to motivate the world to keep dreaming, make culture, make statements as Latinos on a global scale and show that Spanish is part of the new mainstream,” according to J Balvin in a press release.
See the top streamed artists and songs of 2018, as far as Deezer goes, right here. Also, shoutout David Guetta and Major Lazer for holding down top 10 spots in top global artist and top global bands categories.
