Halsey slayed the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show this year — but she wasn’t happy with what went down following the filming. Never one to remain silent, the pop icon is now speaking up about the remarks made by chief marketing officer Ed Razek.
Razek previously remarked, “If you’re asking if we’ve considered putting a transgender model in the show or looked at putting a plus-size model in the show, we have.”
“Shouldn’t you have transsexuals in the show? No, I don’t think we should,” he said. “Well, why not? Because the show is a fantasy. It’s a 42-minute entertainment special. That’s what it is.”
Leave it to Halsey to speak what’s on her mind, as well as so many others who are part of and who support the LGBTQ+ community. “I have adored the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show since I was young,” she starts up. “This year alongside other amazing artists, and hardworking models / friends was supposed to be the best night of my year.”
“However, after I filmed the performance, some comments were made regarding the show that I simply cannot ignore.” In her statement, she directs attention to GLSEN, an organization dedicated to protecting LGBTQ+ youth.
“We stand in solidarity,” Halsey says in closing. “And complete and total acceptance is the only ‘fantasy’ that I support.”
