Skrillex seems to have his hands in a lot of people’s music as of late. Although this isn’t something new for the electronic music mastermind, Sonny Moore’s workload in 2018 has resulted in less of his own material surfacing and more productions for artists across the board. From the new single “Connect” from Elohim, “Arms Around You” from XXXTentacion and Lil Pump, and even writing credits on a new song from Mariah Carey, Skrillex’s work can thrive with even the unlikeliest of collaborators.
Enter Kelsey Lu: a classically trained cellist and singer-songwriter who has worked with the likes of Solange, Blood Orange, and Oneohtrix Point Never. Her latest single “Due West” features her talents on a alternative R&B instrumental that Skrillex has become proficient at pumping out. The soft percussion, haunting strings, and homesick lyics make this new Kelsey Lu song feel like a beautiful, albeit bittersweet moment.
