Marshmello has gone from an EDM wonder to a mainstream sensation — and it’s one huge performance after another for the superstar DJ/producer.
This time around, he and Bastille have taken on ABC’s Good Morning America to perform their brand new hit song “Happier.” The single currently sits at the No. 3 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 list and No. 1 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
Rather than sitting behind the decks, Marshmello is all about showcasing his many talents. He’s been known to jump on the piano, like when he and Anne-Marie perform their collaborative song “Friends.” For “Happier,” he gets to work on the drum pads, bringing an extra live element to the morning show appearance.
Though the performance is fun and lighthearted, the message behind “Happier” is as real as it gets. Marshmello shares via Twitter…
“When Bastille sent me Happier for the first time, I was taken back. The amount of emotion you could feel in the lyrics was crazy. As I listened to the song more and more, it reminded me of so many things I’ve been through in my life. Toxic relationships, letting go of things I didn’t want to, and situations where happiness came with a sacrifice…”
