A collaboration between Rezz and Deadmau5 has been on just about everyone’s wishlist since the young producer joined mau5trap in 2016. The combination of Rezz’s midtempo, bass-heavy style and deadmau5’s penchant for sound design and melody would be out of this world… and it is.
Rezz tweeted earlier today that she was at work on music in deadmau5’s studio. “I feel spoiled being able to have access to all these noises,” she said, in reference to the walls upon walls of analog and modular gear that deadmau5 possesses.

But the real treat came even more recently, when Rezz posted a 70-second long audio clip with just the caption “Rezzmau5.” My rush to hit play rivaled any number of important musical works, and I’m already blown away by the level of design and depth of sound already in place on this track.
Perhaps the best part of this clip is knowing that this is only just the beginning of something much, much grander and more elaborate. Rezz pans up slightly in the video to show that she’s alone in the studio – whether Joel was out in another part of the house or not even working on the track at the moment is unclear. But once these two really get working together on a track, it sounds like it’s going to be one of the best collaborations of the year.
