Zedd is truly the master of teasers – this week, he’s been teasing a new remix for “Lost In Japan” by Shawn Mendes, and now he’s officially announced that it’s out tomorrow, Thursday, September 27.
In the teaser uploaded on Sunday, we don’t really get much of a sense for the production, only some vocals filtered through Melodyne or some other processing software. That being the case, the barely audible melody still bleeds Zedd’s influences and we can tell this will be a pretty on-brand remix for the producer, unlike his “Let Me Love You” remix (which we still adore).
Zedd revealed to CapitalFM this past July that an actual collaboration with Mendes was on the way, so perhaps this is just a placemarker on the way to that.
“There will be a song. We have a song we wanna work on that Shawn started,” said Zedd, telling of the time how he was in a group chat with Shawn, who soon sent him a riff on his guitar, which led to the pair sending music to one another, until they started making a song.
For now, listen to the teaser below and pre-save the remix here to be the first to hear it in 12 hours.
