The Stereosonic music festival was one of Australia and New Zealand’s biggest festivals, taking place across five cities in the region. However, organizers cancelled the festival in 2016. The spot for the region’s top dance festival has remained vacant… until now. The Stereosonic founders have announced a new multi-city festival called FestivalX to debut later this year.
Hardware and Onelove, the original Stereosonic founders, will work with Live Nation to organize FestivalX. The new festival will host dance, hip-hop and pop artists and span four cities: Auckland (November 29), Brisbane (November 30), Sydney (December 1) and Melbourne (December 2). Venue and price details are to be announced.
Stereosonic met its end shortly after the decline of SFX Entertainment, which purchased Onelove in 2013. This new partnership with Live Nation represents a huge advantage for FestivalX, especially as Live Nation expands its global presence. In its heyday, Stereosonic included performances from deadmau5, Carl Cox, Avicii, Calvin Harris, Nina Kraviz, Skrillex, Disclosure and more. We’re very curious to see what comes from FestivalX.
Keep your eyes peeled for more FestivalX details as they emerge.
