As a DJ, it’s often important to express self-control when you basically have all the alcohol at your disposal. Between your own rider, maybe your friends’ riders, drink tickets, and open bars, it’s very easy to become overly intoxicated during sets. For legendary techno/tech house DJ Jackmaster, he learned his lesson this past May.
Though the festival occurred three months ago, Jackmaster is issuing an apology today for his actions at the festival while under the influence.
“I behaved inappropriately and offensively to staff at the event, and damaged equipment, whilst heavily intoxicated,” wrote Jackmaster. “Although I don’t recognise the person recounted to me, I take full responsibility for my actions and the effect on those involved – I am sorry.”
Nowhere in his apology does he mention exactly what happened.
We have to commend Jackmaster for making a public apology for his actions. It’s not easy to expose yourself to criticism and scrutiny in the way he’s done, and it shows a level of remorse that we’d expect from a professional of his caliber, even if the initial act wasn’t professional at all.
