I’ve known Doctor P to explore a variety of styles in his storied career, but this is really the first instance of bass house that I can think of from the UK producer… and it fucking bangs. Of course, a lot of the rhythm comes from fellow UK producer Shapes, but those embellishments are classic Doc P.
The best way to describe this tune is to imagine Doctor P thinking to himself, “I want my own bass house tune to play out in my sets.” Boom, “Cold Individual” was born. It’s a pretty throwaway vocal sample that has no bearing on the tune, but it’s catchy. As for the rhythm, all those high-pitched synths are signature Doctor P, as well as the short dubstep breakdown.
Overall, I’m super happy with this track and I can’t wait to hear him play it live.
