Ibiza Hotel Rates Fall 30-40% as Tourism Declines

ibiza ibiza

Ibiza may be one of dance music’s premiere destinations, but the island is suffering. A new report even shows Ibiza hotel rates have fallen 30 to 40 percent due to decreasing tourism.

Ibiza publication Diario de Ibiza revealed that Ibiza hotel sales fell from April to June this year. In response, hotels have begun to slash rates 30 to 40 percent for the remainder of this year’s high season. Slowing tourism has caused the downturn, so much so that hotels are now considering being open for only five months of the high season in 2019. Hotels previously remained opened for all seven months of each high season.

The hotel rate windfall also relates to specific regions of Ibiza. The island’s party regions, such as San Antonio, are experiencing the worst drops in rates. Ibiza has been grappling with problems and news laws the past few years, impacting the tourist industry at-large. From noise crackdowns in San Antonio to raids of high profile clubs, Ibiza is feeling a number of growing pains. Let’s see what the future holds for the island.
