Earlier today, Billboard released their mid-year report on the Dance/Electronic charts based off the sales data from a tracking period starting December 27th of last year and ending the tracking week of June 28th. Of the many dance music icons who have graced the charts in the last several months, The Chainsmokers and Zedd stick out for their success in the albums and singles charts respectively.

The Chainsmokers led the way with three out of the top five placements on the Top 10 Dance/Electronic Albums (based on overall equivalent album units consumed) with Memories… Do Not Open, Collage, and Sick Boy charting in first, third, and forth with 161,000, 114,000, and 106,000 units moved respectively.

“The Middle,” Zedd’s collaboration with Maren Morris and Grey, was the top-selling dance/electronic single of 2018 with 621,000 units moved – nearly triple that of “Wolves” by Marshmello and Selena Gomez which came in 2nd with 213,000 units sold. “The Middle” also topped the charts for combined on-demand audio and video streams with 312,724,000 and for raw audio streams too chalking up 217,164,000 streams. In both cases, “The Middle” more than doubled the second place record in both charts – “Wolves” on combined streaming and “Let Me Go” by Hailee Steinfeld & Alesso featuring Florida Georgia Line & Watt on the audio streams charts.
