XXXTentacion’s “SAD!” Gets Crazy Music Video Foreshadowing His Death

It’s been 10 days since XXXtentacion was shot and killed in Deerfield Beach, Florida. In the days following, his music has seen a massive upsurge in popularity, with his song “SAD!” in particular hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 yesterday. It’s reported that it’s the first posthumous No. 1 from a solo artist since Notorious B.I.G. was killed 21 years ago.

Today, the music video for “SAD!” suddenly appeared without warning on the artist’s YouTube channel. At time of publishing, it already has over 5 million views and is trending #1 on the video platform, no surprise there.

The more shocking details of the video seem to foreshadow XXX’s death. Though, it’s important to distinguish between foreshadowing and predicting. The scenes in the video show XXX already laying in a coffin, as he approaches his own body at his funeral. The surrealistic scene plays out as the two entities battle each other, with XXX seeming to conquer death at the end.

It’s an incredibly introspective and deep message, especially from an artist that so many non-fans wrote off as untalented or bad for hip hop. In reality, it’s likely that XXXtentacion will have a very real lasting impression on the future of hip hop and art in general.

Having only been up for a matter of hours, it’s more than likely that “SAD!” will hit another record on YouTube by the end of the day. Watch below.
