J Balvin Is Now The #1 Globally Streamed Artist On Spotify

J Balvin J Balvin

J Balvin has shot straight to the top — as he’s now the number one artist on Spotify in the entire world, taking the top spot from Drake. At this very moment, his account boasts 48,199,671 monthly listeners and 8,404,530 followers on the popular music streaming app.

The Colombian reggaeton singer is a hit-making machine, with tracks like “I Like It,” “X,” “Familiar,” and “Mi Gente” it’s no wonder he finds himself dominating the Spotify chart. He’s one of the biggest, if not the biggest Latin pop artists to crossover into the mainstream.

Not only do his original tracks rack up hundreds of millions of plays on the regular, but his songs are perfectly woven into EDM sets and remixed by some top tier acts like Tiësto and Dillon Francis. For J Balvin, his widespread type of global music is bigger than himself.

“All I can say is thank you, thank you,” J Balvin said in a statement.

“I’m so grateful and proud to be the most heard artist in the world on Spotify. It’s bigger than J Balvin, it’s the movement and it’s in Spanish. We are proving that Latinos have the power to connect with an audience on a global level without having to leave our identity behind. This is an achievement for the entire Latino community. I’m so grateful to Spotify for the enormous support to the reggaeton movement.”
