The music industry is still in shock over the unexpected passing of XXXTentacion. The rapper was shot and killed in broad daylight on Monday in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

XXX’s camp is now speaking out in an official statement:

On June 18, 2018, Jahseh Onfroy — known worldwide as XXXTentacion — tragically passed away from a gunshot wound in Deerfield, Florida. It is with great sadness that the news is confirmed in this official statement by his team — manager Solomon Sobande, EMPIRE, Bob Celestin, ESQ. and AWK PR.

In deference to his family, friends, and loved ones and in light of further investigation, we ask that their privacy be respected at this time.

XXXTentacion touched the lives of millions around the globe and will forever reside in the hearts of countless fans who listened to his music, attended his concerts, and felt the glove of his uncontainable, undeniable, and unique spirit.

XXX’s team says news about memorial services will follow.

At this time, there’s little that we know, hence the ongoing investigation. The 20-year-old was reportedly shot by two men in a dark SUV while leaving a motorsports store. The suspects fled while witnesses checked his pulse. Videos from the scene went viral. XXX was soon admitted to a local hospital, but soon after was pronounced dead.

Thousands went out last night to Los Angeles’s Melrose/Fairfax area to celebrate the rapper’s life and legacy. The gathering was mostly peaceful, though rambunctious, except for a few standouts who jumped on a bystander’s car and smashed the front windshield.

You can watch a video of the gathering below.
