Earlier today, XXXTentacion was shot dead in his car in Deerfield Beach, around 40 miles north of Miami. Police confirmed the death an hour later, after he had been transported to an area hospital. In his position, thinking about death was likely not an uncommon occurrence. However, he likely didn’t think he was going to die today.
In December last year, XXX went live on Instagram to talk to talk to fans, during which he spoke about death.
He said, “Worst comes to worst, I fuckin die in a tragic death or some shit, and I’m not able to see out my dreams, I at least wanna know that the kids perceive my message and were able to make something of themselves; to see my message and use it and turn it into something positive. If I’m gonna die or be a sacrifice, I wanna make sure that my life made at least 5 million kids happy […] regardless of the negative around my name.”

XXXTentacion was still awaiting trial before his death, having been accused of domestic violence against his pregnant ex-girlfriend in 2016. He was also very open about his struggles with depression, and mentioned it again in the video above toward the end.
