Earlier this month, an unknown FBI agent was dancing at a bar in Denver when he performed a backflip which subsequently dislodged his concealed firearm from his holster; in attempting to pick up the weapon, it misfired and hit another patron in the leg. The injury was “serious, but not life-threatening.” That patron is now offered complimentary drinks for life.
The FBI agent has now been identified as 26-year-old Chase Bishop. Bishop turned himself into police today as he was charged with second-degree assault, prosecutors said.
Bishop was taken to Denver police headquarters following the misfire on June 3, but was eventually released to his FBI supervisor.
According to Reuters, Bishop is due in court for an advisement hearing on Wednesday. He faces a maximum 12 years in prison if convicted of the felony offense.
