The Chainsmokers Release Feelsy, Must-See Music Video for “Somebody” [WATCH]

The Chainsmokers are giving us all the feels right now with their new brand music video for “Somebody” featuring Drew Love. But it’s so much more than just a fleeting 5-minute sizzle reel of tour footage — there are many deeper meanings to take away from this one, stressing what’s really important in life.

“THE ONLY THING THAT I CAN’T AFFORD IS TO LOSE MYSELF TRYING TO BE SOMEBODY ELSE.”

Those lyrics open up the song and music video, and serve as an intro to a wave of powerful thoughts and concepts. For The Chainsmokers, it’s all about friends and music, because at the end of the day those are the two things in life they have the most control over — their relationships and their work.

“THE UNIVERSE IS NOT OUTSIDE OF YOU. LOOK INSIDE YOURSELF; EVERYTHING THAT YOU WANT YOU ALREADY ARE.”

“IT’S NOT WHAT WE HAVE, BUT WHO WE HAVE.”

“IF THERE ARE NO DOGS IN HEAVEN, THEN I WANT TO GO WHERE THEY WENT.”

“ALL YOU REALLY HAVE IS… NOW.”

“REST IN PEACE AVICII.”

As those sentiments appear on the screen, through the good times in the and, the late nights and the pool parties, the tour stops and the arm wrestling competitions, it seems The Chainsmokers have found themselves exactly where they need to be — with friends.

As talented as The Chainsmokers are, they’ve found their visual counterpart in close friend and videographer Rory Kramer. Through his unique vision, the story of “Somebody” unfolds and we dare you to not be impacted by this work of art. It’s ok to shed a tear.
