Last night, the controversial drug dog rules put in place by NSW Police came to a head as people came from all over to catch Above & Beyond at Sydney Showground. It sounded like the show was amazing, but it doesn’t come without its share of complications.
For longtime fan, 23-year-old Stephanie Korfiatis, she was especially excited to see one of her favorite electronic music acts on Saturday night. Her chances were put down quickly, after she said she was ejected for being pointed out by a drug dog.
The newly enforced, heavy-handed drug dog policy previously warned as follows: “Police will exclude any person from the venue that the drug dog indicates has or has recently had drugs on them, regardless of whether drugs are located. If a dog makes an indication you will be denied entry.” 
That’s exactly what Korfiatis says happened to her. According to a report, she was singled out by a drug dog, asked to remove an article of clothing, and grilled about her drug use (or lack thereof).
“I was just about to go through the bag check and then the dog came up around and they pulled me aside and asked me come over to the check-in station,” she explained. “They told me to take my top off and then asked me all these questions like, ‘Have you been around it [drugs]? When was the last time you took it?'”
She was incriminated and denied entry for a combination of things — testing “positive,” having admitted to previous drug use, and for carrying a Vicks stick. On top of it all, she was the only member from her group denied entry to the $130 ticketed event.
“You have no idea how long I’ve been looking forward to this,” she spilled to a photographer who captured the whole ordeal. “I bought the tickets on pre-sale about six months ago.”
The group from “Sniff Off” attempted to shut down the drug dog enforcement, as did fans who took the plan before court. Apparently those attempts weren’t enough to stop the NSW Police force’s plan — at least in this one case.
