Avicii‘s absence can still be felt at music festivals across the world, especially when they hit close to home. Most recently, a minute of silence was held for the the late producer at Summerburst in Gothenburg, Sweden — and the memorial was just as bittersweet as ever.
It was Alan Walker who ended his set on this sentimental note, as he played out his remix of “Without You” and held the moment of silence. Photos of Avicii flashed over the big screens as the crowd softly chanted his name.
A few fireworks and some applause later, and the party was back in action. Armin van Buuren, Benny Benassi, Deorro, Martin Garrix, Hardwell and many more high profile DJs took the stages all weekend long, and it’s safe to say Avicii crossed all of their minds.
Another edition of Summerburst will take place in two weeks in Avicii’s hometown of Stockholm, Sweden, with many of the same headliners, plus Diplo, Galantis, A-Trak and more.
The producer, real name Tim Bergling, passed away April 20th in his hotel room in Oman at the age of 28. The dance music community hasn’t been the same ever since. Watch below as silence lingers for him at Summerburst music festival.
RIP.
