Facebook has received its fair share of negative press in 2018, but it looks like the hits just keep on coming with the recent news that Facebook has slipped to fourth in social media rankings among teens. Ahead of it are YouTube, Instagram, and Snapchat respectively. (It has also recently slipped to fourth in overall website rankings)
The Pew Research Center revealed that in a study conducted among 743 teens over a month that only 51% of teens are using Facebook. In contrast, YouTube, Instagram, and Snapchat weigh in at 85%, 72%, and 69% respectively. Twitter sits solidly fifth place with just 35%. Three years ago, research from the Pew Research Center placed Instagram usage at just 52% and Facebook at 72% – an almost identical reversal.
Facebook has been experimenting with a variety of different features including Avatars and even a dating function, but only time will tell if they’ll be able to recover from the loss of a core demographic.
H/T: Latestly
i know youtube is a social medium, but it shouldn’t be grouped into a category of communication apps.
