Over the weekend, we reported on a developing story about new Gorillaz music. Now, we can officially report that the new music is an album titled The Now Now and it’s slated for release on June 29th.
The official announcement comes from Emma de Caunes, wife of Gorillaz’ artist and co-creator Jamie Hewlett. Emma posted the announcement on her Instagram story, officially revealing the album’s The Now Now title, artwork and June 29 release date. The Now Now comes just more than a year after Gorillaz’ last album Humanz, which released last April. This release marks Gorillaz’ sixth album.
This album’s roll-out was teased this past weekend at All Points East, Goldenvoice‘s new UK music festival. Enigmatic posters at the festival urged passersby to visit thenownow.tv, which took them to a video clip with new Gorillaz music. Will the Flume collaboration make its way to this album? We’ll find out in a month!
