Well if we didn’t hear it from the horses’ mouths themselves, we wouldn’t believe it. Last night at Axwell Λ Ingrosso’s show at the Brooklyn Mirage in New York, they officially announced a new Swedish House Mafia performance in New York in 2019.
While we’ve speculated about the possibility of a larger tour and tried to glean signs from minor hints and clues, this is the first firm confirmation of a new Swedish House Mafia tour since their reunion at Ultra Music Festival this past March.
The last time that Swedish House Mafia went on a legitimate tour was from November 2012 to March 2013, after the announcement of their impending break up in June 2012. As a result, the entire tour spanned 53 shows across the world to reach all their adoring fans.
Many blogs and publications, including the one we’ve embedded below, claim that Axwell and Ingrosso “announced they will be touring all around the world in 2019.” Unfortunately, we just don’t know. In the video below, you can clearly hear Axwell say, “Should we cancel the Swedish House Mafia gig we’re planning next year? Because I don’t know if they’re ready for Swedish House Mafia in 2019 in New York.”
There’s no mention of the word “tour” at all in their short speech.
That being said, this definitely opens up the possibility for more shows, and we’ll just have to wait and see what more they have up their sleeve!
