Will Smith, Nicky Jam, Era Istrefi and Diplo have at last released their collaboration “Live It Up,” the official anthem of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The upbeat track is an ode to living life to its fullest, a concept that athletes can empathize with in any discipline.
Istrefi and Jam head up the intro and chorus while Will Smith lends his more gruff voice to verses, providing a truly global feel to the track. With Jam of Puerto Rican/Dominican descent and Albanian Istrefi, “Live It Up” becomes an anthem to interconnected cultures and togetherness. The reggaeton, Matisyahu-esque vibes also promote the abundantly positive message found within the song.
While this is Smith’s first song since last August’s “Get Lit,” Diplo has been releasing a steady stream of new music; he’s released his solo California EP, as well as teamed up with Labrinth and Sia for LSD, and Mark Ronson for Silk City.
