Avicii took his own life by cutting himself, according to TMZ

The circumstances behind Avicii’s death on April 20 have been a looming question these past 11 days. The DJ/producer was found dead in his hotel room in Oman, with police officials stating there was no suspicion of “criminal involvement” in his passing.

Days ago, a second statement from his family seemed to imply that Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, took his own life, though further verification is still required from an official police or autopsy report to corroborate that rumor. Now, TMZ has allegedly received information from unnamed sources regarding the manner with which Avicii apparently took his own life.

TMZ described the alleged circumstances leading to Avicii’s death in quite of a bit of detail, which some readers may find upsetting.

Multiple sources allegedly told TMZ that Bergling cut himself with a shard of glass, potentially from a bottle, leading to massive bleeding and eventual death from exsanguination. Two sources told TMZ that “the point of injury was Bergling’s neck but another strongly denies that, saying it was his wrist.”

TMZ asserts these sources were “privy to specific information about Avicii’s death.”

These claims are still decidedly unconfirmed.

If you’re thinking about suicide, are worried about a friend or loved one, or would like emotional support, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-TALK (1-800-273-8255) is available 24/7 across the United States.

This is a developing story…
