Calvin Harris Slid Into Dua Lipa’s DMs To Set Up Their New Collaboration

Calvin Harris has been blessing the world with a resurgence into the realm of legitimate “EDM” lately, with new releases with Dua Lipa and PARTYNEXTDOOR, as well as a stellar remix of Halsey.

With regards to the Dua Lipa track, “One Kiss,” at least, it almost didn’t have her on it had she not checked her DMs. Yes, that’s right, Harris slid into Dua Lipa’s DMs to ask her about the collab. And she didn’t reply for two weeks!

Harris originally wrote the song with Jessie Reyez and thought Dua would be the perfect fit. He says they had hung out two years ago, but never really spoke about work. Considering her recent success, her name was swimming around in his head in a list of possible collaborators, so he sent her the song.

According to Harris, she heard it but didn’t “get it.” So he asked her to please listen again, and something must have clicked, because they ended up putting it out! But not before she changed a few things herself.

Check out the full interview with Calvin Harris on Big Top 40 below, and listen once again to “One Kiss.”
