Kendrick Lamar Makes History, Wins Pulitzer Prize For Music For “DAMN”

Kendrick Lamar has officially won the Pulitzer Prize for music for his most recent album DAMN., making him the first non-classical or jazz artist to win the award in its history.

The album was described by the Pulitzer Prize as “a virtuosic song collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life.”

DAMN. was nominated for multiple Grammys, and took home the Grammy for Best Rap Album.

Congratulations to Kendrick Lamar and his whole team!
