“Despacito” is officially the most watched YouTube video of all time nearly two times over!

The hit song by Luis Fonsi featuring Daddy Yankee has won over the internet, racking up over 5 billion plays since its upload on January 12, 2017. In that time, “Despacito” has become a global sensation that transcends language barriers and cultures.

Not only does “Despacito” find a way onto every dance floor, it’s being played out online by the billions. The music video with the next greatest amount of views doesn’t even come close. “See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie Puth is next up with a 3,495,048,113 play count.

Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” and “Gangnam Style” by Psy and “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars round out the top five most played YouTube videos, respectively.

“What’s happened with this song is just insane,” Luis Fonsi told BBC News of the massive hit that transcends cultures.

“I don’t want to use the word accident because I was trying to write a hit, but I didn’t plan for it to cross over. I just wanted to make people dance.”

Congratulations to Luis Fonsi and everyone else involved with the massive track!
